Kota Samarahan, a high-tech university town at the confluence of the Tuang and Sabang Rivers, is the administrative centre for Samarahan Division.

Samarahan is Sarawak’s main educational hub,
home to the state’s largest universities as well as high tech colleges and training institutions. It is also the gateway to Indonesia; the main land border crossing
is located at Tebedu, Malaysia’s first Inland Port. Siburan, Tapah and Beratok are fast-growing towns in the Division. In October 2014, it was announced that Serian District, in Samarahan Division, would be elevated to the status of a Division in its own right before 2020.
SRI AMAN DIVISION
(Pop. 96,300, Area 5,466.7 sq km)
Centred on the riverside town of Sri Aman, and divided into the Sri Aman and Lubok Antu Districts, this Division has arguably
the greatest potential as an agricultural growth area, yielding rice, pepper, vegetables, timber, rubber and oil palm. Smaller
Sri Aman, the administrative centre for Sri Aman Division, lies near the mouth of the Lupar River and is famous for its benak, or tidal bore.
