INTRODUCTION TO THE STATE OF SARAWAK
  The aerial view of the new State Legislative Assembly (Dewan Undangan Negeri Sarawak, DUN)
obtained the consent of the Conference of Rulers.
As a member State of the Federation of Malaysia, the legislative and executive authorities of the State are spelt out in the Federal Constitution, especially in the Ninth Schedule thereof. The State Legislature
of Sarawak has full constitutional power to legislate on subject matters in the State and Concurrent Lists, and these include land, forests, minerals, native customs, rivers which are wholly within
the State. Additionally,
the State has special powers over immigration, i.e. control over the entry
of non-Sarawakians into the State, the use of the English Language in the State Legislature, or for
other official purposes in the Courts in Sarawak and those special safeguards stipulated in Part XIIA of
the Federal Constitution. Further, the division of financial resources are also spelt out in the Tenth
