GENERAL POST OFFICE

This elegant neo-classical building, complete with Corinthian columns, was built in 1930 and remains in use today.

GRAVE OF SULTAN TENGAH
(MAKAM SULTAN TENGAH) Jalan Sultan Tengah (Kuching-Damai Road)
The site of the tomb of Sultan Tengah ibnu Sultan Muhammad Hassan, the first and only Sultan of Sarawak, who ruled briefly during the mid-17th Century.
INDIA STREET PEDESTRIAN AREA
Jalan India /Jalan Gambier India Street is one of the
city’s oldest streets, and
was originally inhabited by Kuching’s Indian Muslim community. It is lined with shops selling all kinds of goods, particularly textiles and gold jewellery. Mid-way along, there is a narrow passageway that leads past a small Mosque hidden away in the middle of the city. It emerges on Gambier Street, home of the city’s spice merchants.
