KUCHING DIVISION
Kuching Wetlands National Park
Land area of park not open to visitors. Waterways may be visited through licensed tour operators (see page 238).
Pulau Tukong Ara Banun Wildlife Sanctuary
Two rocky outcrops holding breeding colonies of bridled terns and black-naped terns. Boats may approach not closer than 50m to islands for birding and photography.
Santubong National Park
1,410 hectare park protecting the unique
forest ecosystem of Mount Santubong near Kuching. Visitors may walk the Mount Santubong Peak Trail only.
Talang Satang National Park
Talang Talang islands only open to visitors as part
of turtle conservation activities. Pulau Satang Besar (see page 238) is open to visitors.
BETONG DIVISION
Maludam National Park
Large (47.000 hectare) park set up to conserve coastal peat swamp, endangered proboscis monkeys and world’s only red banded langur population. Waterways only may be visited in conjunction with Maludam village homestay programmes.
MIRI DIVISION
Miri-Sibuti Coral Reefs National Park
Vistors may dive the park’s reefs and wrecks under the supervision of approved dive
operators (see page 284)
Pulong Tau National Park
This almost 70,000 hectare park protects the upland regions of the Kelabit Highlands and the Tamu Abu mountain range. Visitors on guided treks from Bario or Ba’Kelalan will pass through areas of the park.
