The Tanjung Manis Halal Hub is targeted at local and foreign investors
who wish to capitalize
on the growing affluence of Muslim consumers worldwide. The Sarawak Government has allocated 77,000 hectares of pristine agricultural land to be developed for
Halal agricultural, food processing, cosmetic, wellness, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. The Halal
Hub was launched by
the Chief Minister of Sarawak in October 2009 and the use of advanced technologies, renewable energy sources and sustainable agricultural and manufacturing practices will make it one of the most scientifically
and environmentally advanced Halal food production centres in the world.
Halal is an Arabic term used to identify items and actions that are permissible according
to Islam. It is generally applied to the food, beverage, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, personal care and clothing industries, i.e. anything that enters or comes into
