GREEN DEVELOPMENT CONCEPT
The Green Development Concept will ensure that only fully sustainable industries operate within the Halal Hub. Environment Impact Assessments
(EIA) and continuous monitoring processes
will ensure compliance with international standards for organic
and sustainable products and for Carbon Credit Programmes. Development will be strictly controlled to ensure that only
wholly organic, chemical free, pesticide free and sustainable economic activities take place in the Halal Hub.
POWERFUL INVESTMENT INCENTIVES
The Halal Hub has special incentives to encourage investors in green
technologies and offers
public/private sector partnerships for the
right investors, especially those that leverage
local manpower and capabilities. Incentives include 100% foreign ownership, full income tax exemption for a period of 10 years or 100 percent income tax exemption on capital expenditure for
a period of 5 years, and exemption from import duty and sales tax on equipment, components and machinery.
FACILITIES AND AMENITIES
A wide range of facilities and amenities are planned to encourage investment and promote recruitment of local and expatriate staff by creating a high quality of life. These include: comfortable and affordable housing in all price categories; national and international schools; a modern hospital and associated healthcare services; sports and recreation facilities;
local and international shopping and dining outlets; and resorts and hotels for both business visitors and eco tourists.
TARGETED INVESTORS
The Halal Hub is specially designed to attract investment from Halal industry players, support services providers and integrated logistics providers. Targeted players include organic farming and livestock rearing operators, specialty processed
food manufacturers, cosmetics, personal
care and wellness product manufacturers, pharmaceutical and feedstock manufacturers, fish and seafood processors, Halal ingredient suppliers,
and livestock and meat product producers. Support and logistics services include laboratory services, Halal business consulting, forwarding, warehousing, distribution, and supply chain management.
Tanjung Manis Deep Sea Fishing Port. Its location at the centre of the Halal Hub will ensure prompt and hygienic processing of fish and seafood products.
Tanjung Manis Airport, located within the Green Special Economic Zone, connects the Halal Hub with direct flights to Kuching. Its list of destinations is expected to grow as the hub develops.
