The NREB and the DOE work together to ensure that industrial emissions and effluents
are strictly monitored and that the environment is not degraded. Hazardous and toxic waste disposal is strictly regulated in accordance with the Environmental Quality Act, 1974.
Biodiversity Conservation
To preserve the State’s unique biodiversity, Sarawak has the largest network of national parks and protected areas in Malaysia. Please see the National Parks section, page 234, for further information.
