BROADCAST MEDIA – RADIO
Due to its huge size and thousands of remote settlements, radio has been an important feature of Sarawak’s development. The first public radio broadcasts in Sarawak began in 1932, and by 1939 there were regular daily services in English, Chinese and Malay. Wai FM is Radio Televisyen Malaysia Sarawak’s dedicated Iban language radio station. RTM Sarawak also broadcasts in a number of other indigenous languages, with music, news and views of interest to the respective communities.
