In 2018, container throughput totaled 386,786 TEUs, with Sapangar Bay
handling 69% of
total throughput. Sandakan Port handled the largest cargo throughput (4.4 million tonnes), followed by Lahad Datu Port (2.3 mil), Tawau Port (2.1 mil), Kota Kinabalu Port (1.16 mil), SBOT (1.15 mil), and Kudat Port (61 tonnes).
