Iskandar Malaysia, located entirely with in Malaysia's southernmost state of Johor, is set to become Peninsular Malaysia's most developed region by 2025, where living, leisure, environment and business seamlessly converge within a single metropolis. Located at the southernmost tip of mainland Asia, it is strategically positioned on the world's busiest shipping routes and enjoys close business and economic ties with neighbouring Singapore.
Iskandar Malaysia covers 2,217 sq km, approximately three times the size of Singapore. Its development is planned and facilitated by Iskandar Regional Development Authorily (IRDA). It is divided into five flagship zones - Johor Bahru City Centre, Nusajaya, Eastern Gate Development Zone, Western Gate Development Zone and Senai-Kulai. The region has abundant infrastructure, modern telecommunications and data networks, and a plentiful supply of competitively-priced land.
Iskandar Malaysia registered cumulative committed investments of RM111.37 billion from 2006 until 31 ! March 2013. Local investors committed RM72.6 billion (64%) while foreign Investors committed the balance of RM38.8 billion (36%). Of the total cumulative committed investments, RM44.82 billion has already been realised. From 2007 to 2012. a total of 554.796 job vacancies were posted and 154,000 new jobs created in the nine promoted economic sectors.
