is the first Islamic Centre in Borneo which realises the Islamic principle of universality and unity through its unique architectural design and multi- faceted programmes.

MAIN FEATURES
The Centre comprises buildings that depict the confluence of cultures and draw upon the fundamental qualities of peoples in the state of Sarawak.
LOCATION / ROUTE
The Islamic Information Centre is located on Jalan Ong Tiang Swee, 5 minutes walk from Simpang Tiga Federal Complex and the Swinburne University of Technology Campus.
HOW TO GET THERE
Bus from city centre to Swinbune University/Federal Complex then 5 minutes walk. Taxi or private car from city centre. Abundant free parking.
The Tang Dynasty style roof is a perfect choice for the entrance of the Centre. This historical period (early 7th Century CE onwards) coincides exactly with the introduc- tion and spread of Islam in China.
The Bidayuh Baruk – a warriors’ venue for meetings and functions; Melanau Tall House – displays strength, security and courage; Malay Roof – shows beauty, elegance and harmony; Iban Longhouse – illustrates a communal yet adventurous life; Orang Ulu Roof – portrays an intricate, meticulous and a captivating living experience; Chinese Palace- inspired Roof – demonstrates the spirit of entrepreneurship, diligence
and prosperity and the Nurani Atrium – where all the above qualities converge to form one uniting entity.
The Centre organises programmes and activities
- especially those related
to current issues and
concerns - that promote a better understanding and an enhanced appreciation of Islam amongst the multi-religious, multi-ethnic and multi-cultural population of Sarawak.
