Tanjung Manis is one
of three main ports servicing the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) and the designated port for the Tanjung Manis Halal Hub (see page 342). It is located 26km from the entrance
of the Rejang River and formerly focused on
timber exports and deep sea fisheries. It has been expanded with the addition of an oil, gas and chemical (OGC) jetty and an inland container depot and can now handle vessels up to 32,000 GRT, making it a major transhipment hub for central Sarawak. The port is linked by road to all major

Located on the southern bank of the Batang Baram River at the Kuala Baram Industrial Estate, Miri Port is the main feeder port
for northern Sarawak. Constructed in 1998, the port features six berths (390 metres total), two transit sheds (5,400 sq. metres), and a container yard with
a total area of 16,000 sq. metres. Other facilities include 28 reefer points, a 63,000 sq. metre timber & general cargo yard, a 200 sq. metre dangerous goods store, and the office building of Miri Port Authority.
In 2014, Miri Port handled
an estimated total cargo throughput of 6.86 million tonnes, with containerised cargo estimated at around 900,000 tonnes.

In 2012, Tanjung Manis Port handled 3.89 million tonnes of cargo, an increase of 234.9% over 2011. The surge in volume was due
to OGC jetty operations and the increased capacity for handling timber logs, timber products and coal. Further robust growth is anticipated in line with the projected growth of SCORE and the Halal Hub.
